How 'springy' should a '51 window regulator be?

I'm putting in all new glass in my truck and have some donor window regulators. My original ones are toast from the cab sitting outside for years with a broken window & then being sandblasted.
One of the donor regulators has very smooth action up & down. But when you crank the unit down and let go of the handle...it twists its way back up nearly all the way. The spring seems to working...well.... sort of like a recoil.

I have the regulator sitting on a bench, it is not installed in the door yet.
Is this normal? Will the weight of the glass and the friction of the side felt keep the window from going back up on it's own? This is the passenger side one and I don't want the thing creeping back up if I want it to stay down.
the driver's regulator seems to stay put, maybe that isn't normal?

Let me know your thoughts before I install it in a few weeks.

Tom
