when i drive my 96 f350 i can smell a burnt oil smell coming outta the exhaust but no smoke it does throw blu smoke once in a while when i accelerate on take off but when its idleing or driving down the road no smoke what u guys think i should look at?
There are a few places it can come from. The turbo, injector o-rings, and low compression(oil going past the rings) are a few things that could cause it. The most common one is injector o-rings though.
Oil getting past the rings has nothing to do with compression. The compression rings could still be working fine, but if an oil ring has failed it will still show as burning oil even with perfect compression.
