Post 79 Bronco Quad Front Shock Conversion

Im jsut curious. Ive got a relativly stock (totally in suspension area) 79 Bronco with the dual front shock setup. I know there was a factory option for a quad shock setup. What I was wondering is how dificult would it be to convert to the quad setup and would there be benifets over my dual setup.

I doesnt look to hard to do, but I would lke to hear from someone that has done this. Also I do plan on doing a modest lift (4-6 in) in the near future. Would the quad setup have any bennies over the dual when lifted (or even stock) to make it worth the effort?

One benefit I noticed after lifting my 92 with the quad shocks on it....I removed the sway bars (front and rear) and the quad shocks really help in turns and quicker maneuvers. Even without the sway bars, adding the heavier springs and having the quad shocks meant the truck really didn't lose any handling capabilities from its stock configuration. I have 4" of suspension lift, no sway bars and the lift was accomplished without the use of spacers or blocks. All new springs and shocks front and rear.

By quad shocks, I am assuming you mean two per front wheel, four total on the front.

Interesting. I hadent expected that, but now I can see why it happens on the quickies. Ive got the fill F&R sway bars on mine that give it that gokart on steroids handeling ;-).

As fot the lift, I was looking at a similar approach - no blocks. Whatever I do though it's got to fit intot he garage when im done! I did read about an air spring system for Jeeps that I'd love to get (they get all the good funstuff first)!

Aint that the truth! Ah well, it takes a while for a Heep owner to figure it out and just graduate to the Bronco anyway.

Oh and yeah, know what you mean on fitting in the garage (mine doesn't anymore).

That air spring system was/is cool. if I 'member right, it came in two lifts, 4" and 12". Was computer controled with control valves for each air spring. You coul dmanually raise& lower the truck, autolevel the truck up to like 30deg. Was a really cool system. What I really liked was could have my lift and still get it into the garage w easy cab entry/exit (good for the vertically challenged wife also, though if I get it tall enough, she wont drive it)
