SuperCab Rear Seat Question.

Ive done some research on this and it looks like from the factory you could get 2 Jump seats on the side in the rear, or a folding bench seat. I don't have either. Ive got a sketchy lookin straight bench. I cant find it in my Brochure, or anywhere on google. Can anyone help me out here? Im planning on swappin it for a Folding rear Bench like they originally had optioned. If anyone can help me with this swap, advice, pictures, brackets, anything, would be great.

I have the only the metal frame and flat metal back plate, for the rear folding down bench....I can get you some pics and measurements.

But it you have one it seems like a pretty simple bolt in deal.

I did the same thing to my 78. I was lucky and found a bench seat in a junkyard. I have the seat and carpet out of the truck right now. I can get you picks of anything just name it.

I was also told, while looking for seat, that a rear bench from 80-96 supercab will fit with little or no modification. Anyone else can correct me on that if you've tried to substitute

Here are the shots of my back seat that I could find.......I took the stock folding seat, dismantled it, had the metal backing and bracketry powdercoated, and had it reupholstered to attempt to somewhat match the front seats that I put in. I also found the company that produced the lift kit for these seats, which lifts the seat about four inches from stock. That gave me the room for the speaker/amp enclosure that I placed underneath, which is nearly invisible with the rest of the interior installed.

Not sure these will help any, but here ya go......

I have a factory rear bench with the lift kit on it. Without the lift they are pretty tough even for little people. I can take pictures this weekend if you still need info I don't know about the later years but the 70's version has a metal back so when folded down there is a nice durable storage platform.

GREAT THREAD! I wanted to build a toolbox/sleeper bench combo. Behemoths looks great. I want to build something custom to keep my crap locked in a toolbox under the rear seat (guns ammo, tools, etc) and have the bench/top be something I can sleep on when camping/hunting

Thanks for the thumbs up! Also, when you said "guns ammo tools etc.", it occurred to me that there used to be a factory offered options of a 'beneath the seat' gun locker for these trucks that went beneath that rear bench. Now, I've NEVER seen one in person, but I've heard about them. I also talked to the folks that made the lift kit for mine, and they said that the lift kit was intended to create enough room for that option.

So, while I do think it would be like finding a needle in a haystack, if you could find one of the original under-seat lock boxes, or at least pictures of it, it might give you some direction as to design of your own. Regardless, it's just a straight box, so it can't be that hard to put together, but it would be cool to find an original. That option is probably right up there in rareness as the factory digital radio, but it might be worth a bit of time trying to locate one for research purposes.

I believe the outfit was called LMI Welding. They're located in Montana, and they make lift kits for the newer Fords, but they also made them for the older stuff like ours too. If you Google them, you'll probably find them pretty easily.

LMI Welding Quality Metal Fabrication

I was thinking of removing my rear seat and making a speaker box/storage area. Don't really need a seat. This may be a better idea.
