"Soda isn't abrasive at all"

Well there you go. Didn't know that!

"we used it on the engine in case any got past our masking and made it's way inside"

That would've been my fear too! Thanks for the knowledge, nice to know...

Very impressive 100pt. work! I noticed you have the original indentication tags on rear axle and transmission, will you have a tag for the engine?

Thank you, not sure about an engine tag. It has a spot that is stamped on the driver side (going from memory), not sure if that is how it's identified? There was no tag on it when we got it and its been disassembled/rebuilt at some point so if it had one I guess it is lost.

I got the engine sprayed with a few coats of Ford Dark Blue in urethane single stage with hardener. I'll prime and paint the bellhousing and and water pump next.

Assembled the front brakes:

The leaf spring buttons (NOS) came in the mail so I assembled the spring packs and loosely bolted them on the axle, then rolled the frame inside and took it off the rotisserie.

Axle/springs installed on the frame.

I believe the Original 352 V8 was a Black engine Block & Gold Valve Covers.

I remember my fathers 66' F100 SWB Ranger when it was brand new. If I'm not mistaken the Full Deluxe Wheel Covers as shown in a prior post were installed as a Dealer Up Grade on F100's and then from the factory on Bronco's. They originally came from the Galaxie Series of cars. I started this post to say that the Wheels on my Fathers F100 were White and came with Chrome Hubcaps with a black outer ring. We went back to the dealership (John C Bays) and waited all day for them to add Air Conditioning, the full Wheel covers, a Rt side Mirror and a matching zippered storage pouch in the passenger door. I also remember seeing many of the older F100 Custom Cab's with matching body color wheels when Two Tone paint was ordered.

That is correct for '65 but in '66 they started painting the engines Ford blue.

Thanks for that info, we have been debating on what color to paint the wheels- either Sahara Beige or Wimbledon White. We're leaning towards Sahara Beige since it will have thin whitewall tires, and the Beige would add a little more color and contrast. The owner had painted the wheel edges red at some point, as seen in the old picture that the owner gave us.

Started assembling the front suspension, enough to get it rolling. Still need to prime/paint the springs and steering parts. We found a company to rebuild the steering box so we'll send it off soon.

Brakes assembled.

Painted the shocks the correct black color.

I like it. Am almost finished with a full resto-mod of my 1966. I bought it in 1986 as my first vehicle and have loved it ever since.

Just waiting on pressure plate bolts so we can get the engine/trans installed back in the frame.

I primed/painted the front springs and trans X member and installed them. Also installed new stainless brake lines with detailed original clamps. The distribution block was soaked and cleaned, then bead blasted and cleared.

Resurfaced flywheel installed, painted the bellhousing and bolted it up with blasted/painted clutch fork. Also painted the water pump.
