How do you drive while in Regen
Just curious how everyone drives while their truck is regenning. I imagine there are a few different thoughts on how to get it heated up the best. Drive normal, drive it like you stole it or drive easy (kinda lugging the motor). Any preferences or thoughts?

If you have a CTS and watch the soot level during regen, accelerating hard will cause the soot level to go back up. Trying to make it regen better is counter-productive. Long steady highway drives seem to work best. Mine will usually burn down to around 1.15.

I only change my driving if I get the "drive to clean exhaust filter" message, which has only happened twice is 36K miles. At that point, I'll find a place where I an drive above 45mph without much stopping for 15 minutes or so. Other than that, I rarely notice the messages and don't worry about it when I do.

Usually I see regen messages when I'm on the highway so I continue driving... my normal driving style is low RPM lugging and in 'M' mode I will use the highest gear it will let me. Going up a hill in 6th at about 1000rpm usually results in slightly higher EGTs, which I don't know if it really helps the regen but meh?

Trent anything to get the egts the highest is best except for mashing the go pedal. because it makes more soot. mine usually last 8 to 10 miles max. but you will still get about 3 to 4 more miles of cleaning once it exits regen.just because of fuel left still burning till egts drop. your doing just what it needs.

Most driving rarely produces EGTS above 900° Maybe a few serious grades with a big trailer hit 1000°. 75 mph on the flat freeway usually runs around 470-490°
Regen pushes the EGTs in the DPF up to 1200°. So there isn't much you can do as a driver to reach those temps with any action on your part. I guess if you saw the Active Regen start and you had a trailer hooked up and could start a 15 mile 7% grade climb, your egts would be 1000° and the computer would only have to dump enough extra fuel to push it the last 200°.
Dropping it a gear and getting more RPMs, is counter productive. As it pushes more air through the system, which cools the exhaust. Which means the computer has to add additional fuel to compensate for the extra cooling.
For me, I just ignore it and drive just like the rest of the day.
