Rings, valves, and bearings are way above my knowledge base so I can't offer any help. But one thing I did when we were changing water pumps was to clean out the water jackets as much as possible. I guess these engines were notorious for having left over casting sand around the rear cylinders. We took a coat hanger sized wire with a little bend on the end and went in thru the lower water pump hole. Scrape, poke, and prod as far back as you can get and then flush with water. Repeat till you get most of the debris out. Then we filled the water jackets with vinegar, let set a few days, and then flush with water. We got a lot of junk out of the block this way.

brought the motor monday ,it was 22 below celcius. so the guy said to cold for measurements ! which sounded right, we talked a bit and he said he would phone me for a quote . well no news from him yet! today i decided to remove tires on the rear wheels. after 2 hours of quality time i got the 4 tires off. i will sandblast the wheels and paint them ,before mounting the bfgoodrichs.

Your wheels are absolutely beautiful! Mine never come out that good with a cup brush and a rattle can. As for the adapters, I remember reusing them with my new napa cylinders on my two ton. Maybe a brake supply house?

wheel cylinders - adaptors
Man those adapters are very hard to come by, trust me. I did the same thing when I re did my brakes however it was on accident. I did not realize I had put the old lines in a box that ended up going out. Found some from one of the guys on here or the barn that had a spare set. You have to have them to make it work. Napa will not have them. The hoses are the same for the half tons and up but the adapter is used on the larger trucks. Might want to try Chucks trucks or Gothem.

got 2 transmission apart ,i will be using gears from a spare transmission i had. wash the original transmission wedesday evening, boy was it caked with mud!
you can see parts of a tooth is broken.
the cover had boken bolts and slotted the holes.
you can see the old case was clean compared to the original one. done alot of scrapping to get it clean.
here,s the reward wife brought some fresh crab! a bit small but the season just started.
