Question My Dumb ?'s For Today

Dumb ? #1
I finally got my F150 last night.I have a real nice low miles K&N panel filter that was sold by Ford Performance with their part numbers, etc. on it.
I tried to install it in the stock air box today,it fit in the box fine but when I tried to put the cover with the MAF back on the airbox it was a tad too tall to get the ears to slide back in the slots without major forcing so after I spent 10 minutes cajoling it I gave up and put the paper filter back in and that was a bit of a struggle. What gives? What am I doing wrong IF I am doing something wrong?

Dumb ?#2
Do our trucks come with the wiring harnesses already in place for power seats and for power mirrors?
I hate the manual mirrors and have access to good used power mirrors and the mirror switches,I just absolutely hate running and splicing wires.
I'd rather drop and clean crudded up gas tanks than mess with wiring.

1.- How can you mess an air filter replacement? did you compare both filters?. Try to make it fit (check if you're setting the lip right) or replace it with one with the proper dept.

2.- You'll have to remove the mirror to find out, i've read both things, some trucks even though they had manual mirrors did have the plugs, and some didn't.

Got the air filter in,finally. It turned out Ford put the bolt holes that hold the bottom half of the airbox too far over and the top half would hit the inner fender and not allow it to fit correctly.
So,I got ambitious,I pulled everything from the throttle body out off and apart including the entire air box. I cleaned the daylights out of the throttle body and the MAF,( which I'd already planned on doing and had 2 cans each TB and MAF cleaner on hand),put the filter in the detached airbox, put the airbox halves back together, mounted it back it,hooked up the intake hoses and connectors.Next I pulled the negative battery cable, waited a few minutes, hooked it back up and took the truck out to let the computer re learn with the new air filter.Took her out and drove in as many different scenarios as I could.
Everything from idling around to WFO, from 25 mph city traffic,45 & 55 mph highway, then 65 and a blast at 75mph + for a good ways.
Now the truck's happy and I'm happy.

Just keep the stock type air filter, nothing is to be gained by switching anyway. The only thing you will gain is possibly more dirt and a hassle when servicing it.

It does seem that its a toss up on if the wiring is there or not.

The K&N filters fit tight. I just don't like them because if you hold one up to the sky on a nice day, you can see sunlight thru it. Which means dirt can get thru it too. So I bought a new stock paper filter instead. No difference in mileage or performance on my stock 351.
