Oh no, thinking of selling the F1

Time is limited and I have been spending it on the Mustang. Anyone have any idea of what I should ask? Here is a link to the old gallery.

Flathead V8, 6V, everything works. No rust, frame good, fenders are fiberglass all around. You thoughts on price on the East Coast would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you can talk me out of it...but I hate to see it sit so much and wonder if a new owner would give it the life it deserves.

That is a sweet truck.

Keep it. You'll never find another one like it.

That's a beautiful truck. Dunno why initially assumed it was a project. Maybe because you said the Mustang was taking all of your time. Did you just fall out of love with the truck? I'd keep it, unless you just don't have the room.

Really nice truck. I've been watching F1's on ebay and an original restored beauty like yours seem to go for about 15K more or less. I noticed you're in Northern Va, . So am I. Where are you, if don't mind me asking?

I'm fairly new to these trucks. It's hard to say on price, as they seem to be all over the map. I guess it depends on originality and quality of restoration. I see them from $12K - $50K, and sometimes a lot more. It seems like the market is getting better for old cars.

i have both just finish one then move on to the next. i redid my truck as a truck nice paint job not show nice and i drive it everywhere weather permitting. the mustang is getting the full show treatment. sooner or later you will finish the mustang and working on something will be a habit. so i would find a place for the truck or a few years down the road you will kick yourself

Sadly in life we usually can't keep all toys we have built up over the years. Lord knows some of us have tried. I never fault someone for selling a vehicle if the following reasons exist: 1. They need the money 2. Family obilgations require it 3. The rebuild is beyond their abilities 4. They have lost interest and the vehicle will suffer.

Whatever your reason for selling, it is up to you. What I do know is if you restore a vehicle, your hours of labor are ONLY paid back by driving that vehicle. It is a labor of love. Also, what a vehicle is worth is truly twisted these days. It takes $20,000 to nicely restore a truck for example but then someone only offers you $5000. I always look at what it takes to restore something before assessing value.

Do yourself a favor - sleep on it. Don't sell the truck this summer unless you absolutely have to. You have a beautiful roadworthy truck. How long will it take for you to get the Mustang going? What will you take to shows in the mean time? I pieced Mustangs together for years and there will always be parts and pieces around. My ex use to joke that I had a cross addiction - Mustangs and F series. We all run out of time so IMHO find another reason to sell it or keep it and enjoy it. Good luck either way.

I would get a trailer and haul the mustang to the shows with that awesome looking truck. IMO...

(A good excuse to keep the truck... You will regret getting rid of it...)

I did the Mustang thing as well. Many times I thought about selling my 53 to free up some funds but glad I didn't now. That's a nice F1 you have. It should sell easily if it's as good as it looks. Price is going to depend on your patience and a little luck never hurts.

I Did a 1950 Dodge ,and sold it to do the 54 panel.I wish I had kept that truck. When ever someone asks about the picture of it in my shop,I think ,I should have saved it.
