Replacing headlights?

Hey guys, I had an accident where I busted out my head lights. I ordered the parts I figured I needed and it seems I need a new header panel. My question is do I need to put the lights on the header panel then mount the header panel? Also does anyone know where I can get the push clips for the headlights? Mine are rusted out bad

Do they sell those in packs smaller than 25 or can I get them at the auto parts store? I'm missing a couple and I made some makeshift clips that aren't holding the adjustment well.

Yes, you need to put the headlights on the header panel before installing it.

No you don't.

Albeit, if it is already off, etc...sure, it's easier.

But in the case of simply replacing the headlights on an otherwise assembled truck, you do not have to remove the header panel to do so.

OP-Yea, you have get those clips in packs of 3 (Requires 4) at your local parts house.. About $7/pack though..

By header I'm understanding the black plastic piece which holds the headlights. when I did mine it was impossible to remove some of the clips without taking it out. But if there is another way please share it.

Use the snap ring pliers with the 90* bends. It'll fit into the 2 holes on the sides of the clip, simply spread the clip out like you would a snap ring, and pull it free.

The simply slide your headlight free....

Installation is simple. Just put the headlight in, get the adjustment rods in the correct place, and snap the clips back in position.

Here's some visual aid I took notes of while replacing the headlights on my dads' 1992 F-150...

After removing the 2-11mm nuts and the 2 screws in that pic, the entire Headlight bezel slides out. Then you can access the lower of the 3 clips.

Loosening the clip up a little.

Adjustment Rod hole #1

Adjustment Rod Hole #2

Adjustment Rod Hole #3

Adjustment Rod (Longest one) goes into that square hole.
