1988 F250 460 engine swap

New to forums so hopefully I'm doing this right..

Hello all I was just wondering if anyone had any experience/advice with current situation.

I have a 1988 f250 4x4 with a fuel injected 460 and a C6 trans. I'm trying to get a new engine for it and I found a nice one for pretty cheap. It's a 460 from a 1993 F350 and i'm wondering if it will go easily into my truck. Im not sure what kind of trans the engine had but I'm assuming a e4od. Any help would be appreciated

No major difference, the F3 heads flow a little better.
It should drop right in.

Yes, the E7 heads were updated to F3 in 1993.
The block and most everything else is exactly the same.

Just found out my engine is actually a 1996. Or at least i think so. There is a tag on the side of the valve cover that says "meets all emissions standards for the model year 1996" . Will a 1996 still be able to drop into an 1988?

Note: I only plan on using the long block

There is no major difference between the engine you have and the proposed donor. Go for it!

All efi 460s will bolt in place of one another. Just use your old flywheel or flexplate and all the wiring from your truck (not the donor motor) and if the distributor is different youll need to swap that.
