Having a similar issue and cant seem to find a definite solution. Mine is a 94 with a 5.0 however. It has begun to have trouble starting lately..taking 10 or so times to get it running but ran fine after starting. Now it seems to start ok (still some trouble) but will bog down within a few seconds. Strange thing is..it will revive itself half the time and the other half it will just choke and die. Whenever it bogs down i hear a whirring/sucking noise coming from the airbox area. Im not sure if that's the problem or just air restriction related to the low rpm's. About to replace the fuel filter tomorrow but was wondering if it could be something else like a grounding issue/like et_millers. Not intending to jack the thread

Fuel issue, guys. An old fuel pump can heat up and foam the fuel, causing these problems. Jst replaced pumps on two trucks with similar issues.

Update: replaced the fuel filter today, pulled it out and it was runnin clear through the exit tube, syrupy and cloudy out of the inlet tube. definitely clogged, but doing its job. however, it still bogged out after a few minutes. i think i may have a bad fuel pump, which sucks because the rear tank pump went bad about a month before i got my truck back from the farm..great

so.....pulled the fuel filter back off to see if there was crap in the new filter, and cycled the key a couple times to see the fuel coming out of the pump, and worked just fine....put the filter back on and started her up and its been running just fine for over an hour....idk what the heck is wrong with this thing. very touchy.

anybody know what the static, idling, and loaded fuel pressure is supposed to be? its not specified in the repair manual, and autozones specifications say 50-60 psi at idle...which sounds insanely high to me.

At idle it should be 48-50psi and near 60psi at WOT or the with vacuum line removed from the FPR.

yeah, i actually did find it in the repair manual, in a completely unrelated section. 50-60 psi is standard for this engine.

He has a 4.9L engine. Your range would have been right for all the rest of the Ford engines with the 19# injectors.

well, fuel problem was right. but, its not foaming or heating up. after letting it idle for hours on end without moving it and scratchin my head over it, i decided to move it back and forth in the driveway violently a couple times and of course it started screwin up and stalling. sooooo appearantly i have a lot of crap in the fuel tank. awesome. but the good news is there is a fuel tank available in town

If it were mine , I would change the pump when the tank was out .IMHO .
