possible 1991 F250 purchase

1991 Ford F-250

Going to look at this truck this weekend, mileage seems low enough, body appears to be in great shape, and it hs a good maintinece record. Price seems reasonable (although I'm not going to pay asking price), unsure the condition of the tires.

However, I don't have any experience with the 351. The only other Ford truck I've owned was a 94 F150, it was a great truck, my younger brother now drives it daily.

Any input would be appreciated, Thanks

Looks pretty clean to me. It is not priced too highly if it is as nice is it looks to be in the pics.

The 351 is a really great engine. My favorite is the 351m, but I think the one in that truck would be a 351w.

whats a typical lifespan of a well maintained 351? I do also like that both tanks are working, that seems to be rare in my area.

The truck looks like it's in good shape. However, you can do much better for the price. I paid $1500 for a 1989 F250 4x4 with a 351w and a ZF5 tranny. It only had 89k miles and had 1 owner.

A well maintained 351w can make 300k pretty easily. My dad and his brother both had trucks with 351w in them years ago, my dad's made it to 330k and he sold it (still running when sold) and his brother's had 280k (still running when sold).

My truck is the first vehicle I ever bought (my parents gave me my TBird when I was 16 cuz I was a lucky kid). I'm the only one that has really done any work to my truck and the 351w is very easy to learn. It's very simple and you should be able to pick up on it quickly. You should expect low to mid teens with it for fuel mileage. If you are looking to pull some more power out of it, a set of long tube headers and a better exhaust set up really wake the motors up.

And as for Ben's comment, it should be a 351 windsor, as that was a factory option. The boat anchor M motors were phased out at this point.

No the intake doesn't become a real restriction unless you get a better cam. Which is the next step after exhaust for most people.

I believe 3.55 to 4.11 were the options for gear ratio.

Gas tanks should be 19 gallons as far as I know.

Don't worry, I'm also hating on the 400m. I don't discriminate.

What trans would this truck likely have? I know there are a couple possiblities, Its an auto. The ad does say it was rebuilt a couple years ago with all new parts.
