Truck runs for 30 minutes then quits
I have a 1987 Ford ranger. Recently I have a major problem. When the truck get hot..about 30 minutes ...it quits. I pull of the side of the road and it won't start. I am unable to restart it until it cools down. I think something is breaking down due to the heat but don't know where to start looking. After it cools..it starts right up as if nothing has happened..but...30 minutes later....it dies again.
Any ideas????
Thanks

don't forget about the Ford recall on TFI modules. If this is your problem. I have a copy of a reimbursment form for this item, if I can find it. Ignition coils will act like this also when hot, as the previous poster mentioned. These are $20 or less at Autozone for house brand.

Ignition Module most likely. It will eventually quit altogether. But until then, it will quit when it gets hot. Not sure of the location on a Ranger. But some V-8s its on the distributor, others is located on the drivers side close to the firewall.
