e99 or l99. help me put this to bed please.
My truck has me guessing. Go figure. I thought I was pretty sure that I had a L99 but in trying to order a sway bar bushing set it seems that I have at least the e99 sway bar. At least I'm guessing I do.
What is the engine at least? Thanks for the help, Mike.
Edit: LMK if I should take a pic of anything else please. I'm guessing that that oil on the up pipes (if that's what they are called) signifies a boost leak? I need to figure out how to solve that too.

Looks the same as my 02 except for the fuel filter cover. Post up the manufacture date on the drivers door jam. This will help -The engine is def. a 7.3 - 444 ci. built by International -Something else Mike I think the early has a V8 emblem on the front side panels. This wont tell you for sure though.

Looks like a late 99 to me with an e99 fuel filter cover.
The intake spider is clearly a late 99 with the bigger late turbo.
IIRC the late 99 engines were installed sometime in 12/98, and the later front suspension parts were changed over in 3/99.
So If my memory serves me you have a late 99 engine (bigger turbo, injectors, etc) with early suspension.

Your truck has a combination of early and late parts.
Your engine cover is the early style.
If your truck is like mine...
then it has the late 99 HPOP, injectors, intake, turbo etc.
The HPOP hoses are e99 (but late 99 will fit fine anyway)
Early style front cover (no screen in the reservoir).
If you have 4WD, and the U-bolts are square-ish then you have the e99 axle.
If your truck is SRW and driver's side rear brake caliper is ahead of the axle, then you have the e99 rear suspension.
Here is a photo showing the difference between the early and late end links for the front sway bar.

Nope, that was changed mid-year 2000.
Up until mid-year 2000, the brake calipers were on opposite sides of the axle. After the change, both calipers were behind the axle.

So all 99 SRW models have the front/rear caliper arrangement? What is considered "mid-year"? The build date on my wife's truck is 12/99 and both calipers are on the back.

Definitely a late 99 turbo and spider, early 99 didn't have an air intake heater. And the oil on you intercooler pipes, boots and your spider is most likely from oil seeping through the intercooler boots. The crank case vent is routed into the intake between the air filter and the turbo, right between those two clamps you see in the middle of the intake tube. The gases coming from the crank case contain oil residue which over time seeps through the intercooler boots and makes a mess. Its normal, they all do it eventually unless you do a ccv mod.
