Hello,

I just got a 91 f150 reg cab truck. One of the first things I am working to fix is the driver side seat belt. The old one will not re-track back in. So I figure no biggy and I'll get a new one at the junk yard.

Well once I got home with the "new" one I realized an issue. The new one has a switch of some sort that the door must hit inside the door jam while my old one does not have a spot for that.

Now this new one was out of an 87-91 reg cab body style, I thought they all interchanged. Will this one still work without that switch hooked up? Or is it back to the yard for me?

Any thoughts? Probably should just get a different one?

 

My guess is the switch is for a seatbelt idiot light and buzzer.

 

The seat belt switch is in the part that the thing clicks into. This looks like some kind of release switch for the belt but I just don't know if its required.
