Welcome the the chapter It'll make Walley's day to know he's not "another diesel driver". But I guess a couple of us could convert him.

Anytime, feel welcome to join us in the monthly thread. It's policatally incorrect to call it the BS thread. But pretty much anything within reason goes as far as topics. Someone has even been known to post photos of a Dodge in there.

Be careful what you say around here, he's one of those Bronco fans...and I'm not talking about a Ford product.

All I want is a OBS crew cab, or at lest extended cab... But I don't want to pay 10 grand for a truck with 300k miles, and so worn out, that the lot lizards would make jokes about it being well used. So I guess I'll stick with my 100k mile truck I got for 2 grand.

Actually..... I do have the 79 out in the barn, so I'm every kind of bronco fan.

Wally, you know deep down you want to chunk that 454 for a 6.7L 400hp PowerStroke in that land yacht of yours Think of the size trailer you could pull behind it full of crafts headed to War Eagle....and still get better fuel mileage than that converter engine (converts gas to noise).

I was talking specifically about one type of Bronco fan. The over-paid type of Bronco...if I need to be a little more vague.

I wonder if the increase in mileage would offset the difference in cost between regular and diesel?

OK, so my coach gets 6.5mpg on gas(measured on a trip with the Jeep in tow). Newer gas burners with fuel injection get around 10-12. To even out the gas cost the diesel would have to get between 9 and 15 to a gallon. Probably not impossible, but that still just puts us even. To make a profit with the oil burner you'd have to get 16 to 20 and I don't see that happening with a 29' Class A.
Anyway, how long, at 3-4 mpg, do you think it'd take to recoup the investment of the changeover?
I'm pushing 62...don't think I'd live that long, even if I only live to be 96 like my dad did.
Besides, then the whole coach would smell like a truck stop.
