Dave, I've talked to several folks about the wing window install and most say it's a pain to install the wing rubber. I also had trouble with my 55 ch..y wing so I know first hand. The cost is about the same if the vent frames are available. The install of the solid glass parts are much easier as far as I'm concerned. Others may not think so. The lower felt wipes gave me the most trouble, but I like the looks and I don't like the looks of all the parts associated with the wing. I didn't have any door parts when I started so having to purchase everything made it easier to go with the solid glass.
Chris, my grandson picked out the camouflage material, and since it's going to be his truck, he has the last word. Your 46 looks to be in better shape than what we started with and once you finish the welding of patch panels and the bodywork, you'll notice a vast improvement. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for this Post. It's better to go into one piece door glass with eyes wide open. Great to hear problems and how you over came them.

Interesting bed selection. Saw the pictures with it in the rough. Waiting to see the bed painted and installed.

BJ, the bed is from a 91 ch..y stepside which was given to me by a friend. The original was scrap so off to the dump it went. I still have the complete rear end with new wheel cylinders, brakes and rotors I tried to trade, but the cost of shipping makes it worth nothing. We have the bed painted and color sanded, but needs to be buffed.

I am considering the kit from Nu Relics

1956 Ford Truck remove vent window

Anyone has experience with theirs?

Maybe it corrects all the issues everyone is talking about?

Stuart, I'm in the process of documenting all that I've done. I'll PM you when I get it together. The MF kit is simple, but takes a lot of patience. Instructions I think were written in China. Still haven't heard back from MF in a week today about the lift channels not made right. They cost $40 each if bought seperately and if the kit is wrong, I can't recommend it. I guess I'll have to call them again and ask for Sy. I'm not happy with them at the moment.

Stuart, I just had time to look into the Nu-Relics site and shocked to find out that it doesn't come with the glass or all the fuzzies which will amount to big dollars. You may want to call and find out for sure what else you may have to purchase. Good luck.

SCF100, you can order a catalog from Midfifties or go on line. The 53-55 solid window kit is on page 98 and the 56 on page 99. It lists what comes with the kit and it ran me $325 plus shipping. Page 100 lists the power window conversion which they claim will work with the solid window kit. Read the whole thing before you deside. I personally like it, but I also have the advantage of being a machinist. The kit is complete. The only two things I did differently is slot the L-brackets and fabricate hat style spacers for the mirror. I will post some pictures just as soon as I get things together.

Hi All, I think I have everything written up and as soon as our Tech Writer gets it done, I'll sent it to whomever wishes a copy. Bear in mind that I'm not an expert but I can save you some time and some frustrating moments while completing this project. I hope it helps those that are thinking about it decide if they wish to tackle this or not. I only wish I had some insight prior to this. I have gained a vast amount of knowledge through this forum and am willing to help in any way I can.
