1999 V10 = DMV "High Emitter Profile"
So I get the California registration renewal papers for my 1999 F-250 V10, and besides the extra $154 I pay because of a 'weight fee', across the top it says "Smog Inspection needed; STAR station required".
Find out that my normal place is STAR certified. After talking to the guys, they tell me that this model of truck is in the 'High Emitter Profile' with the California DMV, thus the STAR test center requirement.
Here are the smog test numbers:
Yeah, looks like a 'High Emitter' to me! LOL!
And this is a truck with 116,000 miles, original spark plugs, and the only mod is a K&N filter.
Just more State of California governmental buffoonery......

Great! Something else to look forward too. This wouldn't bother me so much, but after some investigating I found out that the nearest STAR station to where I live is 90 miles away. So that means I have to spend an extra $80 in gas just for a 15 minute SMOG on a truck that runs extremely clean according to my last SMOG check. Mine isn't due for almost 2 years, so hopefully one of the many stations in my town will get certified, or the people of California will finally get fed up with this and actually vote accordingly...but I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Don't you mean the sheep of California? Did you know if you get sheep stampeding
that they will follow the leader and if there is a cliff they will follow him blindly right
off the cliff.
Washington stat is not far behind the stupidity of California and they want to be like the
big brother down the coast line. We even have our own Eco nut governor now.
Good times ahead NOT There is smart environmental then there is stupid. Where do you draw the line?
