Crown Vic swap in a 68 questions

I'm considering doing the crown Vic front end (disc brakes, suspension, power steering etc...) swap in my 68 f100 and was hoping to some feedback and suggestions so I can start getting a parts list put together and figuring my budget and time. Here are a few questions I'v got so far:
1. is the 03-08 crown Vic the easiest to use or can I go older?
2. If I can use a late 90s donor car how different is the geometry in them?
3. Are grand marquis identical for the parts needed?
4. Are there any other year/model that I can use as the donor? Ie town car LS mustang etc...
5. Any websites or links with pics to read up on?
Thanks,
Big Rob

1. can't go older unless you want to sub frame. the later vics are the ones that have the bolt in aluminum cross members.

is same.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Crown_Victoria and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercury_Grand_Marquis; both models also used the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Panther_platform

I just did the swap in my 67 and used an 05 CV Police Interceptor as a donor.

If you have any specific questions, let me know.

In a nutshell, you cut out all the old suspension and brackets (hardest part), drill 14 holes and fab up some lower trailing arm brackets.

You then need to adapt your steering column to the CV rack.

Pretty simple.

You also need to cut some pipe to use as spacers where the 4 bolts go through the frame. I used 3/4" schedule 40 black pipe. They prevent the frame from collapsing when you tighten the bolts.

I would also recommend boxing the frame area as well.

You also need to fabricate some motor mount brackets.
