What's should I do?

I'm just starting to look at F100's and F250's and I'm trying to figure out whats best for our next build. The plan is to build a decent little F100 prerunner for my girl and son to play with. I came across this F250 and I'm told there are small differnces that don't really concern me, the major is that I have no interest in a long bed, but I'm told its fairly easy to put an early 80's F1 bed and fiberglass on these trucks(anyone have pics or a thread I can look over?).
I've found this one with a few parts I'd use but the guy want's $3500 and from what I've read on here that seems kinda high.

Thanks for your time and help

It does seem a little high. I've been looking for about a year and I've come across a lot of good candidates for under $2500

Yeah for $3500 you should be able to get a little nicer truck - minimal rust, good interior, low miles, runs excellent, well maintained, etc. That looks like a $2000 truck to me, maybe more depending on what's been done to it and what parts are included.

I see them all the time on CL but alot are junk. Be patient. After all the mods that somehow end up in a prerunner do you need an F250 ? F100 is an option for sure if the entire suspension will get replaced. Highboys come up quite often in mid cal zone (Sac, Stocktn, etc..)

will take 1500 4 sure!! http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3692196817.html

i'll bet 400 takes it. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3684171374.html

$3500 seems high to me as well. I saw in another thread someone bought a 95 with all bells and whistles for $4500. I would think this truck would be $1000 or so, it's pretty tore up inside and needs work just to look nice. But I do like the truck, got those old body lines. I'd agree with the short bed as well.

I personally don't like the look of a later model bed on an early truck.

IMO it should match the front fender openings and body lines....

I'd keep looking if I were you.

I haven't added up all the parts that came with it for $3500, but I know the front suspension is $1500 alone.

I'm not to concerned with those issues since I plan on putting period correct fiberglass on the later model bed. So the body lines should line up pretty good. But I can't seem to find any info on the later model body swaps

This particular truck is down to $1800 obo and the guy seems real desperate to dump it right now, if it wasn't a long bed or I could find good info on the bed swap I'd likely offer the guy 13-1500$, but I can't seem to get good intel.

I'll reach out to one of the "big guns" on this site and point him to here, he may not have seen this thread.
