Unhappy Said goodbye to an old friend....

Well, my FTE namesake is gone. Last night, my stepson traded off my beloved 97 F-150, for a.......GMC Envoy. He needed a good vehicle for college, and the 97 is just getting too old, and worn out. I will say, that was the best vehicle I've ever owned. I barely had to do any maintenance to it in it's 231,000 miles. Just mad me said, but it was time to move on. Here is the last picture I have of her at the dealer....

Sorry to see it go Pat. You should have sent it here, I could have put it out to pasture for you!

Sorry to hear that Pat..

I am shocked though that it went towards a GMC...

Not a fitting tribute to one that was so loyal..

Thanks guys. Don, it was his choice. He got a pretty good deal on it. Of course, didn't help that his dad was with him looking for cars. He's a chebby dork.

I'm really suprised that they gave him $2500 for it. It's in pretty rough shape, rust-wise, and has a pretty good exhaust leak from the driver side manifold.

Well, they wanted 9300 for it, and wanted to give 1,000 for the 97. But, my stepson got them down to 8,000, and 2500 for the 97. I think he did pretty well.

Wow Pat, I think you, and then the step son, got your money's worth out of that 97. I hope he's not planning on having that much good luck with the GMC, lol. Bet the check engine light comes on in the first week, seems to be a standard feature of any GM product.

Why would he buy a chebby if he wants a reliable vehicle for college?! Not sure if this was an upgrade but hopefully the gmc gets him through college.

Sounds like he did alright on the wheelin and dealin though, not too shabby!

All they have to do is flip the '9' upside down... Hmmm... as an IT guy, I'd quote you around 200 hours labor, plus expenses. Of course that's before the best-buddy-discount. Once you figure that in, it'd only be 198 hours labor + expenses.

Yea, tough to let 'em go, but ya can't collect them either. Totally been there, Pat, and you have my condolences. I've always seen old trucks the same way 8 year old girls see stray cats...I wanna save them all!
