I cant seem to track down this clunk noise i have in my front end. I already replaced the sway bar endlink bushings the ball joints uper and lower on both sides and the drivers side wheel hub assembly and checked the passenger side wheel assembly for any movement or anything. tie rods look good no steering looseness at all just cannot seem to track down this racket when i go over bumps. Anyone have any suggestions??
replaced the sway bar bushings on the axle too.. would the track bar bushings make it clunk??
Yes. With truck on the ground, have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth and look at the these bushings.
Another common culprit is the thingys that go on the front of the leaf springs... I forget what they are called. I think they are included in this kit - Ford part # 1C3Z-5B302-AA
yes those leaf spring isolaters right.. i also replaced those a little while back chasing a squeek lol .. but i will try ur advice on the track bar bushings.. i absolutely hate chasin grimlins
My sway bar bushing end links (Energy Suspension) came loose fairly soon after installation and the rattles came back. I reefed them down a second time, and now all is quiet.
Have you checked your actual leaf spring bushings lately? I had a pretty wicked clunk going over bumps. Sounded like someone hitting my floorboard with a 5 pound sledge some times. Turns out 2/4 leaf spring bushings were toast.

PITA is about right. Using a simple hydraulic press (think Harbor Freight like POS) and crappy dies, it took me about 4 hours to change out all four on the front leafs. A lot of that time was spent trying to bolt everything back up because I was an idiot and didn't disconnect the trac bar, pitman arm or front driveshaft. But still, it was worth saving the 600+ the local "4x4 shop" quoted me in labor to do the same job.
