Honest dollar value...
My pile of junk is not built to be pretty, and is mostly fabbed with very few bolt ons. It is also a 14 year old project and has gone through a few stages.
The current configuration really started in 07. 07-current, I am at a very rough count, proud of the 20K mark. In total, I am well in excess of 50K into it, and it still is an ugly old truck.
It takes a pile of money to properly build a big truck, and it takes a pile more to build one that is safe, reliable, and has the bugs worked out of it. We won't even begin to mention the time invested.
All that, and it still isn't pretty, but it is reliable, and usually see's over 1000 trail miles per year.

Looks like its fun to play with, what is the big dis-advantage of leaf over 4 link? is it for extreme performance, ride, etc? I already have rear coils too so it seems more involved to fab, but also more balanced for my particular truck set up. If you do some good road driving with 36-44" off road tires what kind of life can you get out of them? I need to consider that too when deciding on a tire size. I cant be changing tires every 6 months or anything, this will me a secondary vehicle, not just a toy.

Generally speaking coils ride better and perform better off road. Depends on the tire you pick, but don't expect much more than 10-15k miles of street use out of most of the tires from interco (boggers, tsls, iroks, etc).

Ok thanks, guess I may need an at set for street and an off road for fun seems dumb to destroy them being lazy, I can swap them back and forth and save a little gas.
