Stage 1 Injectors

There is a used set of remanufactured stage 1 injectors for sale locally for $900. They have about 1500 miles on them. Are they worth getting? What are the pros and cons to them and is it a good deal?

I would need a way to verify the mileage on them. Need to know who built them as well. There is a reason whoever has them is getting rid of them. Know any other details on them? Hard to give pros and cons without the specifications of the nozzles and barrel/plungers. IF everything checks out, $900 is a good deal.

Ahem. It took 5 months of my life to deal with reman issues... and that was with vendor support. If there are any issues with those sticks at all, you're on your own. There are other options, like send your sticks to a good reman shop. You can save money, get a known product, and have a vendor back the results.

I'm with Tugly, $900 is still a lot of money to risk. I like to have some sort of warranty on stuff like that.

The guy says that they are still under warranty. Is there a way to tell that they are stage 1's?

I smell that thing that makes us say "I can save a few bucks and make my truck faster... all at the same time."

Stage 1 injectors need a tuner, or the PCM reflashed at the very naked least. Now the tuner guy is going to ask you for the flow data... which you will need to get from the reman facility. 30% nozzles or stock nozzle? 160cc (normal) or 175cc (rare, but there)? If it runs like crap, what number do you dial to square it away? The tuner? The reman facility? How about the truck, are you 100% certain there are zero issues with the truck that can make you think you have injector or tuning issues? Do you own a torque wrench? How are your troubleshooting skills?

That was my adventure, minus the injector questions. 5 months and another $1000 got it all squared away - but I'm psychotic-****. I would urge you to at least get information... all of it. Then, find your tuner and call them before you fire a Buck$Zooka round at the mystery prize behind door number 2.

I'm more **** than he is....PLUS I like doing a job ONCE...RIGHT....THE FIRST TIME. Am I yelling...Yes I am. Chasing a problem with this truck that is having me spend good money again and again. At this point. I could care less about any waranty a injector rebuilder offers, next time I'm going with new. Full stop. I would be very leery about spending that kind of money for used injectors. Just my honest opinion of course, I just hate to see someone go through what I am with this truck. Good luck either way.

Oh... we are soooo partners in whine: New. One and done. That's what I ended up doing on Stinky's "reboot":

Maybe jetdoc has a worthy competetor in anality here.

If the OP has time to tinker with torque, wrangle with wrenches, fuss with phones, park with patience, and master the art of VC pulling like I have (15-minutes to VC-off... either side... with the tools in the truck... no power tools) - then yes, you might save a few dollars. Maybe... but doubtful.

I had thirty days off total last year....i'm owed 5 weeks vacation which I did not take. I'm salary...No OT...Lucky me right? At least I have a job in aviation, pretty rare these days. Anyway, the very last thing I have time for is to tear this truck apart...AGAIN. It's your money and time...Spend both wisely.
