I thought these (84, 86) were called bullnoses? And I thought 87-91 were bricknoses, 92-97 OBS.

lol idk either but afaik 67-72= bumpside 73-79 = dentside 80-86= slantnose 87-91 bricknose 92-97 =old body style.

The bump and dentsides are the only ones that really make sense to me anyway...

Still dont understand why the bricks werent in production longer, i like them, good interiors, solid trucks. The 80-86 though im less fond of, cheap interiors, too much smog stuff and lighter drivetrain.

I think that's right. I never understood the need to name them, just makes it confusing if you ask me. I think the best thing would be 7th, 8th, and 9th generation. ( I had to look that up on wikipedia) Ford F-Series - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You think it would be best, but had to look it up? lol thats why theyre named so you can just say "OBS" and everyone knows what youre talking about instead trying to figure out if its 8th or 9th generation, or saying 92-97 body style... lol gives us something to talk about at any rate

I had to look up OBS a while back... when I saw it meant older body style, I was sure they werent talking about my 92, I thought it was pretty new.

ya like i said the bump/dentsides are the only two that make any sense to me. AFAIK the 88-99 or whatever year they are of chevys are called OBS too.. so beats the hell outta me.

I would call pre 88 chevys OBS... guess I'm just getting old. I've always liked the mid 80s chevys.

Theyre not horrible, my uncle has a 87 that has the "work truck" front end on it ..? IMO much better looking than the "fancy" front end.. Interiors are pure junk in em though. If i had to own a chevy it would be a late 50s early 60s.

Thats why i love my 79, toughest truck every built as far as im concerned. Inside is mostly metal minus a few refinements- door panels, dash pad, and roof liner (which is all you need anyway IMO) factory available AC and cruise. Theyre cheap, tough, plentiful and parts are easy to find / replace. Everything you need, nothing you dont, with the exception of a diesel option, excluding diesel, still offered all of fords best engines.

It's new to me too, I guess it's perspective.

The rest of my signature changed as to not offend some liberal crybaby.

Why? That's all lieberals are good for, offending.

Bullnose = slantnose, aka 80-86

OBS = Old Body Style, aka 92-97. I THINK the reason they call it the 'old' body style is because the 1997 model year actually had two body styles for the 250. One was the older 92-96 body style, the other was the newer 97 and up body style (you know, the ugly one with the weird 7 lug bolt pattern that no one loved). This was before they switched the 250s and 350s to the 'Super Duty' body style for the 1998 model year. The naming convention stuck, so now we call all 92-96/97 trucks 'OBS'.

Not quite. In 97 they changed over the F150, while keeping the "Old Body Style" F250 and F350s. In 98 they made more F150s, but 98 was a mutt year for the 3/4 and 1 tons. For the first half of the year they finished selling off the old 97 model trucks still in inventory. Then brought out the 99 model year trucks early, I believe to beat Chevy's 99 redesign, to introduce the "new" super duty as a model year 99. There was technically no 3/4 or 1 ton trucks sold as "98s"
