Hi Blazin, I never buy new! The first thing I am looking for is the paint code, so I give the whole thing a new coat of paint. There are products on the market that will bring back the lustre of the original paint. Chances are the hood needs a little tlc also!
Cheers, Mike.

Welcome to FTE and the Big Bronco Forum. We will do our best to get you the most accurate info we can.

Never bothered to paint the top with anything better than a high-quality rattle-can coating. The black top on mine (photo in my signature) was done that way. Still looks fine after four years. Take the time to clean it really well, scrub if you have to, before you even think about paint. Be careful not to scrub with anything too abrasive after all the top is only fibreglass. The rough surface holds crud particularly wax and polymers from commercial car washes. The OEM finish is a satin rather than high gloss but how you redo that is your prerogative.
