351W in a 74 2wd

Turns out the 302 I was going to install in my 74 2wd was trash. Already bored .040 over but has bad scoring on the cylinder walls. No way I would take it to .060 over. Now I'm planning on building a 351W instead. This will be coupled with an AOD tranny. Has anyone else installed a 351W in their dent? If so can you provide any hints or tips? Would like to run long tube headers but can't find any for this combo. May have to go with the shorty headers. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I have a 351W in mine but it was there when I bought it (originally a 300 I6). The 351 should drop in just like the 302 with the only problem being the exhaust due to the taller deck height (pushes the headers up and out). I have looked for long tube headers too and haven't found any. I was thinking of getting some designed for a 302 application and modifying them if they were pretty close.

... about a one-inch taller deck height. A solution would be to pie-cut each header tube to reposition the collectors.

101,

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd? Should be able to use towers from any 73-79 302-351M-400 of the same truck type. I am pretty sure the 300 I6 uses the same bellhousing pattern as the small block v8 engines (289-302-351W) therefore you should be able to use your C6 tranny. You will need the appropriate flexplate for your engine to couple to the C6.

1976 f100 2wd single cab long bed.

I found a nice used 351 locally so I'm thinking that swap.
