2002 f250 4x4, I need help with an airbag code
I finally bought a code scanner that can read airbag trouble.
The airbag light in the corner of my instrument pannel has been on for a year or more (oops). it came on and stayed on one night on my way home from work. it didnt, or hasnt, flashed any codes. It came on with a little warning chime and stayed on.
anyway, the code my scanner is giving is: B1869 Airbag Warning Indicator
Circuit High Resistance. It will not clear the code either.
Anyone ever have this happen to their truck? And what did it take to fix it?
The passenger side airbag shutoff switch light is working properly also.
thank you!

Basically the b1869 Airbag code could be anything related to the airbag wiring system.From what ive found anyway. After doing some research, ive narrowed the problem down to;
1. a bad ground somewhere.
2 one of the airbags themselves could be bad
3.The wire harness under the front seats for the seatbelts could have a short in it someplace.
4. Somewhere in the wire harness under the dash there could be a frayed or shorted out power wire to the airbag system.
5. And there could be a short in the clock spring unit someplace.
6. the instrument cluster itself could have a short in it someplace and trip this warning code.
After checking my service record/repair trouble file on this truck (its pretty thick), I forgot it did this same thing about a month after i bought it in 2007. After the shop had it for 3 days they found the cause of the warning light to be the airbag itself on the passenger side in the dash was bad. They replaced that, and it fixed the problem. Luckily it was still under the 30 day warranty and didnt cost me anything. Otherwise it would have set me back over 600.00.
Im going to check for some of the more obvious things like bad grounds and frayed wires. I love my truck!
