Replacing Turbo Pedestal - 1997

Have a turbo pedestal that is leaking on my '97 7.3. I have read some stuff about replacing it with an pedestal without the EBPV on it, since that is where it is leaking. The "butterfly" has already been removed from the exhaust side of the turbo so the EBPV actuator is not hooked up. But my concern is what to do with the wire harness that is plugged into a sensor of some type on the pedestal. What is that sensor and will something not be registering correctly if I put a non-EBPV pedestal on the truck. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks,Frank

It won't hurt anything to unplug it at the turbo housing.
