Big day for my ride

First time for an oil change in my "new-to-me" Super Duty 6.0. I know, its probably too early, but I'm weird about that kind of stuff. 100K seems like a really long time for the first change. Also changed the fuel filters. No indication that was ever done before, either. I have 52K and just want to keep my 6.0 running as long as I can. I pull a fifth wheel and don't want a break down. I would like to put a coolant filter in also. Am I going overboard? Happy Trails Ford people!

Got to have an odb2 gauge. Scangauge2 is
What i use. Lets you monitor engine sensors
To detect when something STARTS to go bad,
BeFORE it gets more expensive to fix.

Love my 6L PSD too!

Yep, that was a recent addition and I yet have to set it up for reading the trans fluid temp. I like having this additional information. Thanks for the tip on the coolant filter. I hope not to have any casting sand, etc in the system, but I'd rather get it out at 52K than have stuff start going belly-up at 100K!

I'm glad to see someone showing some love for their Powerstroker instead of complaining. I love my truck evenwith all it's querks and problems, but GM and Dodge have their fair share too.Lets make our Fords more enjoyable for everyone by keeping up with our "fixes" big or small. We all know we have the best truck out there !

I couldn't agree more. We all do what we can to keep our vehicles serviceable, and a positive thread is always easier to read, than a rant. I do rant, mind you, but I like to keep a positive attitude, and stay grateful for whatever goes right.

Yes, I was confused on the time frames. I think I read somewhere about 100K on synthetic oil, but that may not even be correct. Anyway, what I meant was, I have driven only 3K since I bought it, but don't know for sure when it was changed before that. I think I would have a problem going 100K on even synthetic. I doubt the coolant had ever been flushed, and I've been thinking about the tranny. I believe a coolant filter is next on my list. thanks for the heads up.

I love my 6.0. Its safe to say she isn't going any where.
Being a new truck to you I would suggest that you have the batteries and altanator checked. Checking FICM volts and ECT and EOT delta would be a good idea.
I think a pyro is a must. I like keeping an eye on my EGTs.
