I personally want my truck with navigation built in. I agree with QwkTrip...use the windshield suction mount.

I've got an 09 with the tray in the center of the dash. My GPS sits just to the left of the tray. I bought one of the "sandbag" pads with the rubber on the bottom of it. Works great. I don't use it much, but it has its moments. The sandbag thing makes it a snap to hide the GPS when ya feel you might be in a "rough" part of town.

I have two Proclips in my truck, one on the left side of the instrument binnacle for my GPS, and one on the right side for my phone. The suction cups work OK, but after a while they all seem to lose their grip and start falling off. Nice thing about the Proclips is that they are very secure and strong, but can be removed with essentially no trace, as well. They aren't cheap, but I think they are worth it.

I use a bracketron universal vent mount, but not mounted to the vent. If you remove the trim panel b/w the instrament cluster and radio, you can actually attach the vent clips to the top edge and use the support leg to stabilize without really interfering with the vent. Will try to post a pic later. I like this setup best because it keeps your device(my iPhone) within very close reach of my fingers, with minimal eye movement from the road.

I use the bag mount that you can get for the Garmin GPS....I set it in the dash top tray and it never moves.
