HOOD EMBLEM IN FOR RE-CHROME

i dropped my Mercury hood emblem off for re-chroming yesterday
. As always he said hmm a bit rusty onboth sides here and there but we will put it in the acid and see if it comes out like a spider web. Wish me luck or perhaps a short prayer would not hurt . Damn I'm worried those emblems are hard to find .

Hey Allan, shouldn't be any rust on the hood nose mercury head or the mercury names on the sides of the hood ?? They are a pot medal. The only rust would be a rust stain from the metal of the hood itself ??

If the re-chroming somehow does destroy the piece, I believe I have one on my part Merc sitting out in the pasture covered in snow. The snow was too deep to go check on it today.

Okay, that makes more sense. Yeah those are hard to find in decent shape. I think I had two chromed and kept the best one to use on my truck. Might have a spare one kicking around if your's doesn't work out. (really need to clean out/organize that garage this summer)

I would have to check if that particular piece is still there but I think it is, if my sometimes not so good memory is right. I live north of the Moose Mountains.

I tried a number of things before taking it in .It cleaned up a bit but not great . That name plate really does need to look good and i'm kinda hoping that he was being a surgeon and giving me the worst case so there are no unpleasant surprises .
