8mpg is getting old

like many of yous who own a 5.4 super duty and live where it gets cold during the winter knows that you usually loose a few MPG during the winter. Well its been in the mid 50's here in NJ for two weeks and I'm still only getting about 7.5 to 8 MPG! Now Ive read other post this winter so i know this is somewhat normal but come on! enough is enough even after two weeks of 50plus degree weather I'm still only getting 7-8 MPG? Even my brothers bone stock 05 F150 with the 5.4 is still getting 13mpg around town......

I hear ya man I'm starting to get back up to 10... I hit 11 a few times back in the summer, but not often. I've been checking out 06-07 CC LB diesels.... I might be making the switch sooner than later.

Its the winter gas not the temp. The pumps haven't switched over yet back to summer blend.

I dropped 2inches in tires size, and went from 11mpg avg to 14mpg avg...and seeing 15.5mpg on the highway (unloaded) for the first time! Nothing else I've tried has helped this much.

Just make sure you are adjusting your mileage calculations to reflect new tire size. Probably the odometer/lieometer is off now.

My dad's 2011 is giving him about 16-17, and he's got a pretty heavy right foot.

I would think narrower tires would help some.

yea Dennis Ive actually been thinking about the same year and make truck that your looking at. Its just i don't feel like buying the 6.0 and then having to put another 4k into it to install ARP studs, and other upgrades so i wont have a problem....

Don't believe all the hype. The 06/07 with the redesign are perfectly capable trucks.

So far in my searching I've found 3 badass CC LB 350 6.0 trucks within a few hours drive of me, that I really like. Each of them have about 85k on them.

Back to the mileage thing... I guess the one thing I like about my 5.4's gas mileage is that it's consistent lol It pretty much stays around 10.
