oil seal replacement

i got a 93 f-150 4x4 with a 351w auto tranny xlt. i noticed that i have a little oil leak coming from the oil pan. the seal has apparently been squished enough to cause the seal to pop out of place. how difficult is it to replace this seal, b/c haynes manual says that I have to completely raise the motor. please help.

oil seal replacement

I just got done re-enginging a 92 F150 w/ the same equipment and if youre talking about the front/rear oil pan seals they were sort of tricky to replace even with the engine upright on a crane. You have to notch them to the side gaskets. But we got no leaks after a week thank God. If youre talking about the rear main oil seal I can't help you-that was already done. But I definitely never want to remove one of those engines again. The F150 has that recessed engine (almost a cab-over) thats a bitch to pull out. It's real hard to get to the bellhousing bolts-we had to put planks over the engine to crawl on. It took me and my Dad four solid days to do it. I would much rather remove the tranny (if youre talking about the rear main seal).
