Dual carb on a 223?

Anybody got dual carb set up on a 223? What intake did you use? What carbs? Does it run better? Faster? Any info would be great.

If I'm not mistaken, Fenton, Offenhauser, or both, made a dual carb intake. I am certain that you will pay dearly if you can locate one.

You might want to ask around in the Inline Six Forum on FTE, someone can tell you the options.

That is a really nice looking truck. Good luck, Steve.

My brother ran a 3 carb set up on a couple of GM 6 cyl's in the 70's and 80's . Stromberg set ups I think . They were wicked . He won as much with them as with his Olds. set ups . I know what you want is out there , Offey , and others . Look at swap meets . Go meet Old Ford groups . Many are willing to give info if they don't have ! They may turn you on to something .

Have a Look in "My Gallery" & you'll find several Pix of my Offenhauser. I've also a Fenton waiting for the next iteration as well.

Faster with dual carbs? I would imagine. Better? Not always.i I have a lot of experience running flathead V8s as a daily driver. Nothing beats a stock flathead with a single stock carb for smooth idle, easy and fast starting and general tractability driving in most real life situations. I'm guessing a 223 would run better with its original carb. At 60 years old in May, I'm willing to admit I've been wrong before, and I may be wrong this time. There's an old, old saying in hot rodding. "Nothing beats cubic inches". Of course who am I to say? I replaced the 223 in my '59 with a 210 cu in diesel. But then again, I'm no hot rodder. Duh.

Yes, yes they do run better. W/ Duell 1904 Holleys, you've no starvation problems on the 1st & 6th cylinders that you do w/ a Centered Single 1904 Holley.
Just the usual one has when you run Duells on any thing.
That's a steal, I'd jump on it if I were you, just the Intake usually goes for $300.00, then you add $150.00 a piece for the Carbs.

It will run better do to better fuel distribution. I had a Offenhauser with 1904's but making the linkage was a nightmare so I traded it.

the ebay guy says it should fit a 1960 223 motor. His ad says 57-58. Is there a difference in the 60 vs the 57-58. Same same?

The 'fuel starved ends' makes sense to me. Maybe one of the reasons fuel injection is so common today. Damifiknow anything about hot rods anyhow.
