I put back on the old carb. It has a manual choke and other issues listed earlier in this thread when I rebuilt it.
I want to go with the carb I got with the motor that I messed up the rebuild on since it has a hybrid heat/electric choke. I will rebuild it again and see how it does.

68 and newer here in Clark County Nevada. I hope they will change it eventually, but there is a lot of old iron on the road here.

Do they actually stick something up the exhaust pipe for their tests.
Here, in my part of Texas, the inspectors just make sure all of the components are there that are supposed to be there. For instance, I have to have a heat riser terminating into my air breather.

They stick the sniffer up the tail pipe, prior to '84 you don't need the smog equipment if the vehicle will pass without it.

x2 what Dave said. You have to pass a sniffer up the tailpipe. I seems so wrong and dirty.........

I think Az is 1966 and newer. Maybe 67 but I think 66. With the prostate cancer check also. They've gotten lenient on the equipment here also as long as it passes.

I sold the flare last year. Couldn't stand looking at the rust in the cab when I got in.
The replacement's coming along fine. I wish I had saved all the parts and energy for this truck but at least I have the experience now. Did you use the cluster?

No, I never used the cluster. Found I would need the harness to go with it. Then I found one here locally in a yard that I got a cluster and plug from. I have since decided to just go with aftermarket gauges. I have too much trouble trying to see the factory ones. Now I actually have 3 extra clusters. I did end up using the bezel from the one you sent since it looked better.

I did come to the conclusion that if I was going to go with factory that I would find a pre 70 cluster so I could do my own wiring and not have to worry about the harness and plug for the printed circuit.

Yippie for me. I went to install my Pertronix Ignitor today only to find that it is the wrong one. I will have to contact them since their listing for my distributor says I have the correct one. Hopefully they will swap it out.

The holes for the points measure at 1 5/8inches and the Pertronix measure at 1 1/2 inches.

Now, since I had to put the points back in, I decided to finally swap out the speedometer drive gear. Can you tell the difference? Now my Speedometer works but I think the speed is off. I will compare against the GPS speedo app I have in my phone later.
