Ranger engine swap
1986 Ranger 2.3, not enough juice. 1986 Thunderbird Turbo coupe, plenty juice. Anyone done this swap? I presume engine, wiring, pcm, maf, from T-bird. Ranger has no a/c so no clearance problems. Prolly use serp belt setup from ranger, mebbe volvo intercooler. What am i missing?

Trundle on down to the "Performance, Engines & Troubleshooting" section. There is a whole sub-thread on engine swaps. The turbo T-bird is a good and somewhat common swap. Especially if you have a donor vehicle in the back 40 or nearby to snag all the bits & pieces that just seem to go un-noticed until you spot their absence.
I wouldn't bother with the intercooler, unless you plan on mashing on the go pedal a lot. You will be pleasantly pleased with the response without an intercooler.
You might have to up the radiator, as you will be putting out more heat.
Do you plan a complete swap of the long block, or just swapping the intake/exhaust parts? The blocks would be the same, I think. There is a writeup on the Lima in the tech section at the top of this forum.
