Will these tires fit on stock rims?

Hey all,

I'm new to Ford trucks, just bought a 2008 F250 4X4 diesel to replace my old 1/2 ton farm truck. I know this is an old topic, but I am looking at putting larger tires on the truck to fill out the wheel wells, and I could use some advice/experience. The truck has stock 265/70/R17 tires on stock rims. I will not be putting a lift or leveling kit on the truck, and I would like to re-use the stock rims if possible.

Found a reasonably priced set of Cepek 33X12.5X17 truck tires locally, and was just wondering if these tires will fit on the stock rims, and go under the truck without any rubbing. If not, what size of tires will fit on the stock rims?

Thanks for any and all help!

They will probably fit with minimal if any rubbing, but your gonna really stress the tires out and wear them out prematurely

I take it I will need a wider rim than stock? What size aftermarket rims should I be looking at to fit those tires?

At least 9" wide. I believe the stickers are 7.5"

I would get a little offset too. And surely would look into a leveling kit with those tires. 285/70/17 fill out the wheel wells nicely also, its what I run.

Thanks for the help. Nice looking truck you've got there. Those 285/70/17 will fit the stock rims? This truck's going to be for farm use so I don't want to invest too much into a lift/leveling kit, new rims, etc., but would like larger/more aggressive tires.

I run 285/75/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. With the 7.5 rim, it is about as wide as you can go. It is close to 34 inches tall, but I have no rubbing issues at all. They are E rated as well. I think I paid under $300 each with free shipping from Discount tire direct and had them mounted locally.

Yes. It is an 06 with a 5.4. I am pretty sure it has plow prep package. Being the lightest engine and a Super Cab, it is one of the lighter trucks and may ride higher in the front. I can measure from the center of the hub to the fender opening to get the best idea of actual fender opening.

So I measured 25 inches from center of hub to bottom of fender opening on both driver and passenger side. Not sure if this helps, but as I said earlier, no fit issues. I would have put 35's if I had 8.5 inch rim.

285/70/17 fit excellent on stock wheels. Definitely the biggest size I would go with.

Great, just the info I was looking for. Will shop around and see what I can get for 285s. Anyone have pictures of an F250 running stock rims, stock height, with 285s?

And those are 285/70/17 Pinnacle Grizzly Grip M/T. Terrible tire, very loud terrible in everything but mud and dry roads. Very cheap. About $800 a set on eBay.
