Just ordered a similar fuel pump (as the OP mentions) from Mac's for my 48. I might have to try the EZ Turn. I should have the fuel pump any day now.

A trip to Hobby Lobby to get a pure cork roll (gasket material) would probably solve the problem.

Another source to get a round cork gasket for the fuel bowl is Tractor Supply. In addition to tools and equipment, they actually have tractor parts. Take the bowl along and match it up. It'd probably be in a set with a screen and the gasket for around $5. They stock them for Ford tractors, Allis Chalmers and others.

The bowl on my F-6 is now sealed with EZ-Turn and a solid rubber gasket from Napa. The strainer screen is cut to fit in the groove half-way under the gasket so the gasket corrals the edge of the screen and seals against the pump. Under the pressure of the pumped gas there is now NO gas leak!
Thank you again and again for your suggestion.
(I was telling my 94 year-old father-in-law about all this and your help and he said bubble gum would work. I like your solution better.)

I'm glad it worked out for you. That tube will last a while. It's also good for things like putting a thin film on carb gaskets & especially on any fuel parts with an O-ring. If you ever have a dual gas tank truck, that stuff is great on the seals for the manual selector valve...you can actually turn the valve.
