"Four-wheel-drive Ford F-250s got a beefier Spicer front axle for 1972."

Are they talking about the D60? The HD44 was used back in the early '60's.

Are they talking about the D60? The HD44 was used back in the early '60's.
I think, though i'm not 100% certain, the HD44 (3.5M) axle was standard equipment on highboys from '72 onward, prior to that it was an optional upgrade from the light duty D44 (3.3M) axle.

My first truck was a 1971 F100 which I bought at 18 in 1978, By 1980 I had also bought a 1979 F100 Ranger. The 71 was for work and the 79 was for fun!
It was a treat to see all the history of the 70s era! THANKS for the trip!
