I had to chuck my broken OEM dip stick for my 312Y block and made a new one but I need to put a full mark on it. I forget the capacity. Is it 5qts with a new filter? I've got that info somewhere's but just can't find it. Anyone know?

It should be 5 quarts. I know I put 5 in my 292 couple weeks back. Then after ran the engine checked it the mark was below the add mark so I added a 6th quart now its over the full mark when I check it now. But I believe the 312 use 5 quarts also.

 

Yes..Empty the crank case and replace the oil filter and add a total of 5 qts. I posted this some months back (or should I say some years ago)..and way back then..I went ahead with the 5 qts.
