family member's new 2002 EB 5.4 4x4

well we had a family member just move up from Chicago last week. she had to have a truck as soon as possible and i've been looking for months but trucks go fast up here. a very clean looking 2002 EB 5.4 4x4 with 107k miles on it they were asking $6400.

we viewed and test drove the truck last night and i found some minor things

1 missing spare/jack
2 cruise control deactivation switch leaking but had recall done
3 windshield washer did not work(horrible time of year for that)
4 one brake light bulb out
5 left wheel seal slightly leaking
6 heated seats dont work

othwerwise it drives perfect, runs great, all electronics work..ect.

truck is fully loaded with the exception of back up sensors and air ride(thank god)

so today i did the following

6 qts of synthetic oil and new filter
new air filter
cleaned the MAF and IAC
replaced the cruise control switch
fixed the 2 separated rear window washer lines - works perfect now
added rubber floor mats front and rear

BTW we walked away spening $5,000 even and i put $71 in it today with oil and filters. i think we got a great deal considering what other expys here are going for with MUCH higher miles.

so heres the pics! excuse the dirtyness we are going through "break up" season here in alaska and you cant keep a car/truck clean. period.

her expy with mine

so on a side note, doing an oil change on a 97-98 is like a 5-10 mine process. whoever decided to get rid of the remote mount oil filter in the 99-ups and also the redesign of the oil pan to drain out the side. i would love to kill the idiot who came up with these ideas. i ended up with atleast 4 QTs of oil on my garage floor. ran out of floor dry so i have to make a lowes run tomorrow!

okay so the truck has been great for her except for one issue the other day. we got 15" of snow and of curse the defroster was on and the truck was warm. driving down the road the ABS light came on, the heater motor and screen plus radio screen dimmed out and came back..did it a few times then all was back to normal and it has not done it since.

i'm thinking leaking windshield onto the GEM but i've never heard of these exact issues arising from that. any ideas?

living in alaska you run into it alot, running up on snow banks/ice banks bends the boards pretty easily.

i love the backup sensors in my excursion but have no need for them in the expedition...its so small LOL

alternator died on her today right as she pulled into work the truck died. so i picked up a brand new one and put it in. shes right at 108,400 miles now. other then an annoying heat shield rattle that i need to fix its been a great truck for her.

took me all of 20 mines in a windy parking lot to change the alt

ok shes got 110,4xx on her as of today. it was dropped off tonight to have the pass side exhaust manifold leak fixed, another exhaust issue and the rear wheel seals have started leaking. otherwise its been a great truck for this family. the inside looks like two small children spilled everything imaginable in it but otherwise good haha.
