Question Timing belt change interval

Hi all, when I bought my 97 Exp 5.4 4X4 used, it didn't come with any manuals so this question might sound stupid but any input is appreciated.

The truck now has 140,000km (in Canada) and I have not changed the spark plugs or the timing belt yet. At what interval should I have brought it in for this service? usually it's 100,000km for the belt and water pump for most vehicles, so am I driving a time bomb and my belt might snap anytime? The truck runs nice and smooth though...

What other maintenance should I have done at this kind of milage? I have been good at cleaning my K&N drop in and oil change, should my tranny/rear diff fluids and coolant been changed as well? what else are there to be done?

Thanks,
S C

I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure the engines have chains and don't need them replacd. we sold our villager right before thebelt needed to be changed and I checked on the expy and the 150 and there was no mention in the service schedules for a timing belt replacement

No Timing belt. Only chains.

and as far as I know they hold up real well. I went over 198,000 miles on my first 5.4L with no problems at all. in fact, I would very likely still be driving that company truck today well into the 250,000 mile range had a co-worker not crashed it!

my wife has a 97 with 96k on it excellent condition, dealer said it has 2 timing chains, should not have to replace them, unless of course they break which he said was very rare. wife has all the work done at our local Ford dealer, great work, price not too bad, when ever she takes it in they go over everything
