Planning A Lift

Planning to lift the truck in my signature 3". Will I need to replace my shocks with longer ones? Not sure how much play is already in the stock ones. If so, any recommendations on where to buy/brand?

Thanks in advance!

Rancho shocks are the best I have used. They are made by Monroe, so they're really good quality

Thanks. I'm still trying to decide what to do. Not sure if I should buy a "lift kit," or just get individual parts myself. It'll be harder for me to get parts together, but I may have a better end result, and it may come out to be cheaper. Most 4" kits out there give you 4" springs in the front and 3" blocks in the back.

I can get a 3" rear block kit (blocks and U clamps) from Bronco Graveyard for $70. Haven't seen a good source for just springs. I can get shocks from anywhere, even locally. Do you have any recommendations for places to buy just front spring sets?

I would like to have decent ride quality in the end, but it's not a big deal because the current hard shocks/springs already make it feel like there's no shock absorption. Probably just a sew set of shocks will belt that to a degree.

Do a search for "reverse shackle kit" (RSK). One by Sky Engineering seems to be popular, but I'm not an expert on lifts.

Yeah, I've heard of them. Looks like it's easier and cheaper to get a set of lift blocks for the back. More worried about the front. Need to find the right springs.

I think I'll end up going with a kit. Just makes everything easier.
Front: 4" lift springs, U bolts, pitman arm, track bar drop bracket
Rear: 3" lift blocks, U bolts

The rear already sits higher than the front, so the 1" difference in the kit will be good to help even it out.

I saw them in the back when I searched. Hmm... I'll look for front shackles. Thanks!

You realize that if you put another block in the rear (an F350 comes stock with a 4" block) you will have 7" of block back there? Axle wrap is going to become a huge issue. Get springs for the rear.

You think? About half of the F250 and F350 lift kits come with blocks. I may start with blocks, then upgrade to springs later.

What size tire are you looking to run?
And like GNR22 said, 7" is WAY too much block to run

I'll probably keep my 33"s for a while then maybe go to 36" tires. I kind of thought the same thing with the blocks until I'd seen it so widely done.

Guess you guys are right about the blocks. I guess I'll just spend more and get springs all around. If I do that I might as well go for 6", lol.

For 6", how long will my new shocks need to be? The current ones are 22" fully extended I think, but on level surface they sit at about 18". Would 26.375" do?

Looks like skyjacker also has 29.8" shocks available. Those are probably the ones I'd need for 6" lift.
