Hope this works out

Getting close to ordering a 2013 6.2 SC DRW 2WD 4.30 gears Lariat with all the goodies. The tow rating is 15600 and that's what GVW of the trailer is so I will be at the max but my 2000 V10 was only rated at 13K and it's done fine for the last 12.5 years. I've looked at the power curves that Mike had posted for a V10 with PI heads and it's very close to what the 6.2 puts out at the ground not the Flywheel so I'm sure I will be happy with it. Now I just need one more price from a different dealer to make sure the deal sounds right and I think it will be a go

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I haven't seen too many 2wd's, can't wait for the pics.

Have you thought about steeper gears if they are available in that rig? I know with my '08 V10 towing a similar load, I would get 4.88 or even 5.?? if I was towing all the time.

I just received a second price and they beat the other one by $1000 so I'm really getting close. There was a black one in a parking lot in Quartzsite just like the one we want and it looked sharp and low to the ground (works better for pulling 5th Wheels). I just wish I could find a good photo of one in Kodiak Brown and Pale Adobe two tone.

I ran rpm and speed calculations and with 4.30 and the 6 speed transmission and 4.88 would be overkill. You have to also remember there is no longer a 1 to 1 gear and two overdrive gears that allows the transmission to keep the motor in it's power band.

The new trans is nice, lots of flexibility with manual, tow/haul, etc. I'm assuming you've already test driven one so I probably won't have to explain the huge improvement over the 4R100.

Like Silverbullet said I think you will be pleased with the 6.2 with the 4.30 rearend. I have had my 2013 F350 4x4 for about 3 weeks now and love it.
Traded an 08 6.4 diesel and have still been impressed with the power of the 6.2.

No I haven't test drove one but the group we where traveling in Mexico had 3 2013 trucks but with the 6.7 so I got some seat time in the new ones. The only question I have about the 6 speed can you shift it in and out of manual when you are on the go. There's a lot of times now that it would be nice to be able to lock it into a gear when pulling to stop it form hunting for gears on small grades. I know it will be a improvement over the 4R100 with the added 2 gears and closer ratios.

You sure can. When you drop it into M, it'll stay in the gear you were currently in when you were in drive.

Another "nice to have" thing is that if you're using Tow/Haul in D and flip over to M, drop a few gears or whatever, when you flip back over to D, it'll keep your Tow/Haul engaged.

Done deal it's on order and I only had to talk to a sales person one time to give him a credit card number everything else was done online between the Ford build site and email. It should be in a week or two after we get back to our homebase in late April

Nice, congrats!

You should ask the dealer for a copy of the order (it's called the DORA). Once you get that, compare it to the 2013 order guide, make sure everything you asked for was ordered and nothing was added or left out!
