the motor came out of a f-250 it has 612 miles on the motor..... jasper engine....5.8
i parked both trucks next to each other.
i shut off the 250 and immeaditly starting unhooking all hoses and simply unhooked the main harness on the driver wheel well to the motor.unbolted trans and mounts pulled motor out...set it upright on some tires then with engine hoist then got it off the ground.
i repeated this same process on my 350 accept i didnt dissasemble the entire front of the truck like i did the 250.
i dropped the new motor into into my 350 hooked everything up very carefully double a triple checked vac lines wires hoses made sure everthing was correct.
once my 350 was put back together i hooked the battery up and proceeded to start the key sounds realy strong but wont run.........when spraying starting fluid(carb choke cleaner only thing available) it springs to life but only enough for the fluid to burn out which is maybe 3-5 seconds unless i keep a mist spraying it will go until it runs out.......
The things im thinking is maybe the ground isnt tight enouph. but i bolted on another ground wire to the block same results.
and this morning comparing the 2 motors to make sure i didnt forget anything i noticed my harmonic balancer i assume thats what its call front of block bottom . is fine on my 5.8 and then looking at the new motor it is not on the left side as is on the old motor it looks to be on the right side... and also it looks bent but it started pouring and ive been sleeping and working on my truck since saturday.........i also took the brain from 250 and put it in mine same results.....
so if the ballancer is bent away from the front of motor will it not run and what exactly is its purpose.....
