1980 F150 Dimensions
Hi there,
First time poster here, and I need some help. Does anyone have the external dimensions for a 1980 F150? Length, Width, Height, Clearance...
I'm not totally clear on the various versions of that were produced, though the one I'm interested in doesn't have an extended cab or bed.
That said, if anyone has a resource where they can find this info, I'd appreciate you jotting down the various models and these respective dimensions.
Thanks!

You might tell us what you need these dimensions for, and we can relate our experiences(like will it fit through a 7ft garage door). But there where many different models, with different lengths and heights, and I don't know of any officlal listing of this info, and I am thinking no one here has it either. If you let us know what you are doing, and what truck you are looking at doing it with, someone may have a truck like that and can go do a little measuring for you, though tire size varies a lot with these trucks, since most people get away from the stock tire size.

Thanks. I'm considering purchasing one. I once owned a 1980 F150 Custom -- no xtra cab or bed -- which I loved and would like to replace.
I've since moved, and and want to make sure the same one will fit in my slightly odd garage before I scour the earth for the right one.
Thanks again for the help!

Unfortunately the 4x4 supplement brochure does not list the dimensions of the 4x4 trucks, most likely because they're similar to the 4x2 trucks. However, I did not look in my 1980 shop manuals, and there is a chance they might be listed in there. If you would like, I can take a look there as well and see what I can come up with.
Keep in mind that after 30 years, most of these trucks have sagged, and or have been modified in ways that alter the overall height. So the height values listed above may not be entirely accurate.
Also, the width measurements above do not include the outside mirrors, and so you will need to take those into consideration as well.
Let me know if there's another dimension you might need.

I have almost every single brochure for 1980, and not a single one of them lists the 4x4 stuff. There is technically a difference between 4x2 and 4x4 heights, because the coil spring sits "higher" on the D44 axle beam than it does on the 4x2 I-beam. Not to mention the rear blocks on 4x4 trucks that are used to level out the rear of the truck.
I've looked through the shop manuals and I can't find a section with any specifications. I have four different shop manuals though, so I'm not finished yet. I'll update tomorrow on what I find.

My F150 sits right at 72.5" in height. So technically my F150 sits .6" too low. But then again, I'm still running the stock F100 5150# coils up front, and they weren't formed to handle the weight of a 400 and a T-Case.
