Order of operation.

Hi All,
I have a 53 f100 with a 1977 302, Holley 600 cfm four barrel and 3 speed OD. I am planning on doing dual exhaust with shorty headers, a toyota power steering upgrade, front disc brake conversion and to lower her using a kit from performance online. My question is whether anyone has any suggestions as to which order to do this in?

Here is my opinion. I am building a '55 and I may have done it a bit backwards, but again here is the order I would proceed.

Headers and steering almost go hand in hand, to make sure your steering linkage will clear the headers, then the dual exhaust. Front brakes and lowering would be the last for me, since they should be none dependent upon the other stuff.

I did mine in a similar order. After I installed the Mustang II frontend. I worked the steering linkage almost in conjunction with the headers and then had the dual exhaust installed. I didn't lower, but my kit already had disc's on it.

Thanks Pat,

Good advice. I will start with the steering mod to make sure subsequent mods can be worked around any clearance issues.

Cheers.

It depends if it is a driver or not, in my opinion. If it is a driver do brakes, lowering, steering, exhaust (headers&duals is one in my book, can't have headers without exhaust on the street) in that order.
#1- need to stop
#2- need to know where things will be for all future mods
#3- need to steer
#4- Exhaust is COOL sounding
