Update on oil sample
#16
#18
This is my latest report with almost 4k miles , I am thinking this will be my threshold for oil changes right at 4000 miles unless something else changes,
--------------------------------------------------------
GORDON: There were some slight improvements in aluminum and iron in this sample compared to last
time, and chrome is a little lower too. Improvements are always nice to see, but they're especially nice when
the oil change interval is longer. This engine is making less metal now than it was. No contamination was
found, and the used oil itself was in great shape. We like this interval for you since your engine tends to
make a little more metal than most. We're guessing it probably works a little harder than other engines
though, and that's okay. Nice report!

Great writeups, really interesting to read this. I believe this is a way of understanding YOUR engine and whats best for it. I also think that it allows others to see what they can expect(oil change interval) for whats considered average and what not. I bet they can help you detect an early failure as well, like if a piston is crumbling, etc.
